FlipbookPDF.net is a free web-based online service that enables you to create flipbooks from any PDF document. Developed by Globosoft SRL, this reference web app is an easy-to-use converter that can turn your PDF files into cool-looking flipbooks. While you can use it for free and let the website’s servers host it for a set period, there are also two premium versions available that let you customize your files further and have unlimited usage.

How do I make a PDF flipbook?

A flipbook is basically an interactive HTML5 online publication that has the look and feel of a real page-turning publication—complete with those page-turning sound effects, page shadows, and such. This is used to replace conventional digital PDF documents to mimic the real-life material without having to print them. As such, there are dozens of flipbook makers and converters, but FlipbookPDF.net is a notable one for several good reasons.

This online converter can be used free of charge for a maximum of 40 pages. You don’t need an account to use the website’s services, and your conversion will generate a shareable link that’s valid until a set amount of time. This online program also allows you to customize your flipbook to a degree; you can manually add in hyperlinks, choose the paper format and orientation, set stylish backgrounds and opacity level, and more. 

Take note, however, that there are restrictions on what the website can actually accept and process. It generally allows the PDF/X format, which is optimized for printing. All pages must have the same size and must be single individual pages, regardless if there’s supposed to be a two-page spread in there. Additionally, the maximum size supported is 200MB—and the converter won’t be resizing your file for you if you go over this limit.

Is flipbook free?

By default, you only get two links after converting your PDF file: your new flipbook’s URL and your private Admin area, wherein you can do the customizations. After that, you can either let the website servers host your file—which will have some ads—or download it for offline sharing. However, you can only freely download a maximum of 15 pages. To fully unlock all the available features of this service, you’ll need to upgrade to the premium versions.

There are two paid versions: PRO and BIZ. Both of these are licenses for one year and allow you to add your own branding logo and background. The two also get rid of the watermarks on the free version, allows flipbook management in your Member area, enables hyperlinks, and lets you download the flipbook’s HTML5 or ZIP file. They only differ by the maximum number of pages per PDF file, the number of flipbooks hosted without ads, and the number of pages you can convert.

Compared to other flipbook converters, FlipbookPDF.net's premium version is reasonably cheap. It even allows users to upgrade the BIZ version to accommodate up to 50 hosted flipbooks. However, one of the web service’s downsides is its lack of automatic renewals for the licenses. You’ll have to manually renew as your access to the Member area will be disabled. If you don’t do so after 30 days, all your files will be deleted from the server.

A great bargain

All in all, FlipbookPDF.net is a quick and easy way to create flipbooks from PDFs. Not only does it allow customization, but you can also do offline sharing—and getting the premium versions are great deals if you happen to work with flipbooks a lot. While it’s too bad that the licenses don’t get auto-renewed, this is at least an easy way to stop your subscription plan after your license has expired.
